D'Ann BartleyThere aren’t many things I would just “re-print”, but today I received an email from a client of mine who works for CASA, and I think the message should go from me to you in its entirety. Without further ado:
Can you Spare a Few Minutes to Help Change A Life?Dear Friends and Colleagues, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Santa Barbara County is a nonprofit organization that relies on volunteers who are appointed by judges to do precisely that – they change children’s lives. CASA volunteers make recommendations that help judges decide where the children can live safely and permanently. For many children, a CASA volunteer is the only constant person in their lives during a frightening, uncertain time.
Since 1995, CASA of Santa Barbara County volunteers have made a lasting difference in the lives of hundreds of abused and neglected children. With your help, we can continue to build a healthier, safer community for all our children.
Abused and neglected children right here in our community need our help. Maybe you are thinking of becoming a volunteer to advocate for one child, but even if now is not the right time in your life to volunteer with CASA, you can help right now by telling others about CASA.
One very simple way that everyone can help is to take a few minutes to help us communicate: forward this message to your friends and colleagues. If every one of you sent this to just 10 of your contacts – kind people who just might have 10 hours a month to help an abused or neglected child – we could reach over 1000 people! Can you imagine? If even only 10% of those people became a CASA volunteer, we would be able to serve every child that is currently on our waiting list! That’s right – more than 100 kids, from age 2 to 17, are waiting right now, for someone to be their advocate.
Please help spread the word about child abuse and neglect – how there are hundreds of children who have been removed from their homes for their safety and protection. Help us tell more people how CASA of Santa Barbara County volunteers make a difference for children, and make sure that foster kids get what they need.
Please encourage your friends to learn more about CASA of Santa Barbara County and ways to help abused and neglected children by visiting www.sbcasa.org.
Thank you for your time and commitment to changing the lives of children in our community. You truly will be the difference in a child’s life.
Call 739-9102 or e-mail [email protected] if you are ready to advocate for a child.
